Generally heat exchangers for petrol engines are not compatible with diesels due to the fact the diesels run warmer than petrol, so need a larger capacity heat excahnger, unless the petrol marinization has had the a bigger one fitted.

So far just googled this product and found little information on its waterproof qualities, but as the make-up of the material is a non-fiberous composit it could well be so.
Added to the fact the material doesn't fade would suggest that its durability would be better than other...

Some other schools of thought:-
a. Will fiberglass aesthetically fit in with the rest of the boat (old motor boat? Gentlemans launch or younger?)
b. With adding a ply top, as mentioned by fisherman, would you really be saving much in the way of weight?

I would agree, why bother with matching paint? as long as its protected.
