Selling up. 1940 William Osborne motor boat

Although it really breaks my heart, I have to sell my boat due to my broken back. I can't do the maintainance, and I couldn't go out on her if I paid someone to do the maintainance. She is on ebay as item 300215806516, it breaks my heart. Please, if you know someone who can look after her in...

Pascal Atkey's Pansy heaters - are they any good?

Re: Pansy Flue and Deck flange I phoned Pascal Atkey and they split a complete stove package they had in stock to send me the through deck flue fitting. It cost about £30 including delivery and is very simple, a flange welded onto an 8 inch length of 1 inch stainless tube. It arrived a couple...

    Poxy Leaks ARRRGHHHH!

I would suggest a length of guttering over the pillow area with a down pipe to the bilge, but that would get the dusty bilges damp - so perhaps best not. (I'm not jealous at all - only one leak and a dry bilge - are you sure the boat is not in a barn somewhere?)

    why not weathershield?

The Mrs and I just spent the best part of a month removing the old paint to bare wood and then putting that Jotun stuff on. It will probably get a wax wash once in a while just so I keep up on any flaws and nicks. I dont want to have to do the whole thing again for as long as possible.... My...

    why not weathershield?

Do you feel there is much to be had by waxing the paint occasionally, or do you find it lasts anyway?

    Hydrosol woodsealer

I use the hydroseal and it seems fine. There are three types; One that is a little bit brown - designed to prevent UV damage. One that is clear - designed for wood not UV exposed One that is Gloss - designed to go over the other two types and give a gloss finish. So now I have used the...

    Paint stripping a wooden Folkboat

We just stripped the hull and repainted. Well the wife did (best paint stripper I know of). Electric hot air gun and the flat bladed stripper that you use for steaming off wallpaper works best. As long as the paint has been warmed through and the flat scraper is sharp it comes off easily like...
