Update, with the bottom and prop etc all cleaned (and the fact that we are fully laden with all our liveaboard stuff including extra fuel and water etc) the engine now gets to 3000rpm and we get 7kt+ boat speed so quite happy with that!
Update, turbo freed up fully and back on and now getting to 2500rpm and more boat speed but still not as good as it should be.
So yesterday decided it was time to check the hull and prop (as need to do that anyway prior to us departing the Caribbean to head to the Azores) ....see the pics...
Update, the turbo has been freed up and moves BUT there is a slight sticking point when it is turning that needs more force.
Seeing if we can get a new turbo....
Yes and now getting someone to remove it and see if they can free it up.
Still.need to swim on the boat anyway as need to clean the hull and prop anyway
Thanks all and will have a dive under the boat tomorrow and see. Fingers crossed it is something easy to sort as we are due to head back across the Atlantic in the next few weeks....
Hello all,
Got an issue with the VP tmd22p engine in our m47. Under load it will not seem to rev past 2100rpm but in neutral will rev as normal. So under load we can only get 4 knots boat speed under power. It was fine before with revs under load being normal etc
So thinking it through...
If it is anything like the impeller housing in our previous boat, with a 4jh3e Yanmar, then the impeller is near the starter motor on the side (as in VicS reply above). A stupid design!
Hello all,
Just wondering is there a time frame when you should look at replacing the rubber fuel lines on a diesel engine (tank to filter, filter to engine, return etc ).
Our boat comes with a separate water cooled freezer (approx 30ltr capacity) and fridge as standard and would not be without the freezer out here in the Caribbean, especially when you know you have to stock up when the food is plentiful and reasonably prices (french islands). Yes the freezer is...
