It looks like a bronze turnbuckle to me. I'd be surprised if it doesn't come loose with spanners. If it doesn't you can also try heat.
worst case you could cut it and use a stalok swageless long stud.

With a new turnbuckle body
The hamma definitely has more meat on it, and is very nicely made. Although I wouldn't be concerned about the strength of the stalok.
I think the weakest point is the thread.
Just to be aware they are also slightly different lengths, which may affect your turnbuckle adjustments max/ min...
A big advantage to a dyneema removable forestay us the weight or rather lack of it.
I'm not talking about saving weight aloft but the momentum of the stay as you try and hold onto the end and clip it on a pitching foredeck.
We have swapped our running backs for dyneema and they are much nicer to...
If you are making a new bow anchor roller/ sprit, not dealing with an existing one then probably the ideal is to creat a 2nd roller in the other side that sits further forward of the anchor roller and stowed anchor. A mooring line then gets a fair lead avoiding chaff in the anchor. Just ensure...
We get growth in jerry cans regardless of whether they are tap filled or rain water. But only if we leave them in the sun.
We just use a bit of cloth in a funnel if the rain is clean (eg Ireland), or a 10" inline filter with 5 microns if we are getting more suspect water. We will also pre treat...
We broke our rigged preventer as we accidentally jibed. 10mm double braid in a 35 ft boat. It snapped at the bowline used to tie it onto the boom end.
This should give an idea of the forces involved. It did reduce the speed of the boom coming across but I'd always rather it didn't snap at all...
To confirm the older aquasignal bases have the same hole pattern.
I wasn't quite as lucky though as one of the stainless bolts holding it onto the aluminium masthead sheared while undoing it.
Fortunately the mast was down so could drill and retap.
Then use plenty of tefgel/duralac/lanolin as you...
We have old autohelm instruments and 6000 autopilot.
I have assumed they are all networked as we have a compass display that I guess gets its heading from the fluxgate compass uses by the autopilot.
Unfortunately the autopilot doesn't see the wind angle from the masthead wind sensor as I can't...
I Understand your pain.
We bought a single ring from
Piston Rings - Cox and Turner
They supplied us with a single ring after we snapped a new one.
(Ironically taking it off its pre installed position on the new oversize piston to check the gap).
Turns out that you can wind the stainless rings...
In some of this series of engines (ours does) there is a tacho sensor on the engine rather than the signal coming from the alternator.
This is on the front just above the oil filler cap with I think 2 wires going to it.
Check the word and connection to this (pull them off give them a spray and a...
Hi Dan
Just to check.
You say you are cranking the engine with the decompression lever open.
Presumably in the straight up position.
This is great for bleeding the system.
But you need to put it back down to the right (looking at the front of the engine) to get it to start.
You may have already...
We filtered our diesel (with our primary fuel filter) and put it in the car. Saved us buying enough Jerry cans to store it.
We don't have a very fancy new car though which would have changed things.
