    Alternatives to Raymarine 260 VHF

So you are buying a boat for north of £2m quid and they won't let you specify the radio? I'd be going elsewhere.

    Southampton boat show-waste of time

I'm with you Ari except for the M&S food. Didn't think prices charged at the hog roast and guinness bar were too excessive but my mate did moan at the prices for a prawn sandwich upstairs at the champagne bar. I wisely stayed downstairs.

PSP - Fairlines 'Closed Door' policy - Very upset!

I think I must have gone to a different boatshow. Went on the first Saturday and went on all the floating Fairlines. I did ask the guy at the entrance to their barrier if we could have a look and was waved through. We did queue for 5 minutes to get on the 78 but jumped on and off all the...

    Does IPC sell our data?

Just subscribed. 6 month DD. All boxes unticked which was a pleasant surprise. Last time I did this IPC had automatically ticked all the "Send me Junk" boxes so may be they are learning.

    Yard charges question.

Wow, just been charged €93 for a lift onto trailer and hot pressure wash for a 24 footer. That included power washing where the trailer pads go before dropping and a good hour of power washing once on the trailer. South coast sounds mad money.

Interesting Boat in Dun Laoghaire Marina

Saw this in DL Marina today, thought she looked interesting and a bit different. The guy who owns her also has a 36ft Victorian cutter he restored from scratch and now races on the classics circuit in the Med and also a little gaff rigged yacht called Colleen Bawn he races in Dublin Bay...

How to say 'well done' in boatie terms?

If a cat is no problem then I can recommend http://www.broadbluecharters.com based in Turkey but you can either do the Turkish coast or make the passage to the Greek Islands. No requirements for bits of paper but a detailed resume of sailing experience was required and then they gave me a BB385...

Charter yacht experienced but no paper qualification

Yup, that about sums it up. Mad really as we are all sailors, have boats and wanted a different place to sail for the weekend. The Sunsail boat did what it said on the tin. We had asked if we could have a spinni and got one, did Largs, Tarbet, Androssen, Largs, had fun so no complaints. It was...

Charter yacht experienced but no paper qualification

It was about 5 years ago. Sunsails website states (or did at the time) what you need to charter and is clear that experience will count. I tried various other west coast charterers but all were more expensive than Sunsail and when they were told it was an all male crew from Ireland on Paddies...

Charter yacht experienced but no paper qualification

No they didn't. When I wanted to go there with a few mates a few years ago, Sunsail were the only company to accept experience in leiu of paper quals. May be it's changed now.
