Losing more Lockkeepers - just in time for the new season

Nearly all EA recruitment has been put on hold, unless they have a incident role. Come April, and into the new financial year, they will start recruiting again. Its all about directors bonuses, don't you know.

Latest EA Thames operational management new hires......

A manager who manages the Lock keepers wouldn't be responsible for assets, they manage people. Any defects would be sent to the assets teams. EA frame works are very expensive, and since Covid as you know every thing has gone up in price, so a lot of money doesn't go a long way. Unfortunately...

Latest EA Thames operational management new hires......

Team leaders manage people, assets are managed by the FRCM directorate on the Thames. Sometimes new blood is better, with new ideas.

Upper River Medway currently shut for navigation.

'Explosions' heard from Yalding marina after boat fire - live The river is currently shut at Hampstead lock. A vessel fire has meant a vessel has sunk in the approach cut to Hampstead lock and is blocking the river.

The Medway. Yet more Good News.

The cost of disposal is very expensive, even if it’s been tested and is found to be inert. It can be reused in building projects if the right exemptions are in place but trying to find projects that want it could be hard., plus it would still need to be transported at a cost.

I believe the intention is from the 1st of June. Not sure if the rules on staying onboard overnight will remain as they are government rules not EA.

    Medway Harbourmaster to be removed

Actually Sheerness and Chatham are only both 10 minutes from a motorway so transport links are not that bad! What we are losing are small ports that we can never re-use due to being built on or silting up! The rest of the world use their natural assets as did our ancesters but unfortunately we...

    Medway Harbourmaster to be removed

Peel ports are just property developers with no interest in shipping. They are being allowed to deliberately run the port of Chatham and Sheerness down so they can sell it off for housing. Unfortunaely this will just result in more lorries on our already gridlocked roads. There was a reefer...

River Thames should be London’s ‘artery’

I absolutely agree with Chris Livett about the Tidal Thames and other rivers. So many unused wharves and jetties rotting away. Convoys at Greenwich with two ro ro berths taking hundreds perhaps thousands of lorry journeys off the roads was allowed to shut and now will be filled up with...

This is just not about lock keepers, there are more staff involved in looking after any navigation. There are veg clearance gangs, mowing gangs, electrical and mechanical support, patrol men, general maintenence and dredging operatives and tree clearance operatives. C&rt have about 360 men for...

    EA Visiting Marinas

In theory, as tax payers many of these people mentioned will pay! Government gets money from Taxes, Defra gets money from government and the ea gets money from defra.
