I have used a 2.3 Kw genny on my Teal 22. I sit it up front on four old PVC cushions to prevent vibration and secure it to the pulpit rail with two plastic covered wire bicycle locks.
Inverters are ok but for a good inverter price you can buy a 2600 watt genny.
I carry mine on the fore deck, not good for sea use I know but great on the waterways. It also has enough power for the wifes megga hairdryer.

Go to your average supermarket get a dvd or tape player, costs about £30, secondly get a load of cartoons for the kids perfect pictures happy kids.

The universal Honda 10hp should give displacement speed without having to use full throttle so life should be long also better charging output. Honda quality a legend, IMHO.

I get an oil sample at every service we use Robertsons at Llandudno in Wales.
Problem is a one off will only tell so much, you need a past history of samples to establish a base line for the engine.
If buying I would be happy with about 3or 4 years...
