    100W solar panel not working

I had exactly the same issue with a similar panel. Dampness had affected the relatively flimsy embedded connections in the back of the panel. Trying to dig back to find a sound connection rendered it totally useless. However, it had lasted 10 years and cost very little so it did quite well. I...

    Whst is this plastic thing?

It looks furler related as it has a cut away to allow it to be fed onto the forestay without having to disconnect it. Failing that it is a throb shield off the doubie-twitch. Good luck!

    Cockpit Grating - Plastic ?

My cockpit tends to retain an annoying puddle despite the rear drains as it is dead flat. I have tried to trim the boat to drain but it then tends to be a little stern heavy affecting sailing so I need something there to avoid paddling in the cockpit.

    Cockpit Grating - Plastic ?

Thanks to all that took the time to provide very helpful replies. I have ordered the Ringmat Octomat as it is UV resistant, can drain below as the main structure sits on bumps and not too expensive. Thanks to ithet for your link.

    Cockpit Grating - Plastic ?

I plan to add a grating to the cockpit floor of my Trident 24. I wish to make it maintenance free so I am considering using some form of UV resistant plastic grating. Does any one have experience of adding such a grating and if so what type did you use and how well does it perform?

    Yanmar 1GM10 - Another Problem

I had a similar problem with my ancient 1GM10, although it was one of the two accessible bolts. I ended up removing the bolt head carefully with a hacksaw blade. After removing the pump the long remaining thread was easy to remove with a mole-grip. I would not be too worried about removing the...

    DIY aluminum welding

I used durafix rods to repair some fairly delicate aluminium window surrounds on an old sports car where they had suffered fatigue cracks. After the fix and many miles of rattling round there were no signs of any cracks. If you use them I recommend that you practise before committing to your...

fitting a raw water strainer, above or below the water line?

My similar strainer is above the water line as per the instructions above. However an old salt at the marina mounted his with the waterline just above the intake to the engine but below the top of the bowl so it self primes rather than relying on the impeller pump generating sufficient suction...
