That crane looks a bit more substantial than mine ... the previous owner had a 3,5hp which was quite a bit smaller.

It's the shape of the outboard that is the problem .... but I've got some old lifejackets so thanks for the idea ... will give it a go. (y)

Just looked at your original outboard profile. Maybe a basket shape of lifejacket webbing but it would be do-able I'm sure.
