A knife a most useful object IMO especially on a boat, unfortunately it is a criminal offence to carry one when ashore. So on land only criminals carry knifes which puts honest men at a disadvantage.

From what I read in the online British newspapers, I would have thought that bullet proof vests are more use in London these days. As for the pirates, a bullet proof jacket will not help if they shoot you in the head, leg, or arm, etc, as they use AK 47 s that spray bullets everywhere, I think...

So the advise I was given at the time was correct, my Rover 2000 sc probably did need a decoke.

Same as my Rover 2000 sc I used to stop with it in gear then take my foot off the clutch to stop the enigne ran it like that for a couple of years, I was told it needed a decoke.

IMHO there are a lot of people on the water in boats who would be off on land in a tent.
