    We're back...

Congratulations from us! Glad you had fun. I must cycle over and see Phoenix sometime you're there, as long as she stays tied to a pontoon!

    Caption competition

The design department at Bavaria Yachtbau had been told the Rhein wasn't the ideal place for a sailing boat so they started with a clean sheet for the 55.

    Seen today - a Bavaria 55

I'm currently nearing the end of a month long language course in Düsseldorf, Germany, and have been doing lots of cycle rides and explorations. Today's ride elicited a rather unusual Bavaria 55 pootling along the Rhein. Oh, and if anyone would like to read my reports of riding around the...

Ferries to oostende for next weekend.

Could you do Harwich to Hoek van Holland and then get a train to Oostende? You could do the overnight ferry which works rather well and can do that as a foot passenger (or you could even take your bicycle). The Dutch Flyer ticket provides rail travel to anywhere in Holland for an extra £6 each...

Where are good places on the East Coast for a sailor to live?

We moved to the Ardleigh area (NE of Colchester) a couple of years ago and really like it here. We're 20 mins by car from Brightlingsea and 30 mins from Titchmarsh Marina or Ipswich or Shotley. It's lovely and quiet round here with farming countryside and not that much traffic. House prices are...

    East coast cycle one sunday

It went very well, thanks for enquiring - I meant to post something earlier. So I arrived at Manningtree Station after the joy of Cox's Hill (downhill) and saw that Morgana and Moondancer were already there. We set off along the potholey route into Manningtree, then past the swans (that...

Then yesterday, as I was trundling along towards Elmstead, I heard a car alongside me, looked across and it was the same...

    East coast cycle one sunday

Weather looking good for Sunday now. Quite a different story for my 50 miler from Stowmarket on Saturday - rain, rain and lots of rain!

    ECF Fitting Up Supper

That'd be OK for me but Uncle James might be perturbed at having to wobble home on his bike after food/beer! I suspect we shall come with four wheels and an internal combustion engine.

    East coast cycle one sunday

OK, I've done some slight tweaks to the route and it's now 44 miles but hopefully quieter roads. If anyone wants the GPX file, please let me know. Or you could download it from here: http://bikeroutetoaster.com/Course.aspx?course=109059 All OK for a 10am start at Manningtree station? Anyone...
