Yes, the switch is just energising the solenoid so no huge cables needed. I think the middle terminal is battery +ve (red) and the red/yellow wire is to the solenoid but check the schematic on the side of the MDI and it’s obvious which is which.
You just need to connect the battery +ve terminal on the MDI to the start terminal on the MDI through the switch. The switch and wiring need to be heavy duty to take the starter current. I didn’t bother connecting the “preheat” terminal for the glow plugs as my engine never needs preheat here in...
My HR352 from 1987 has a Selden mast with internal channels either side of the mast track. Some years ago I fitted a new Windex and used the old Windex cable to pull the new windex cable down to the foot of the mast. Several years later I exited a marina and could only raise the mainsail 1/2...
IB = IBÉRIA. PortsIB is the public body responsible for, among other things, certain moorings and public pontoons in the Balearics. They have local offices in the main ports.
Exactly the same thing happened to my Dubarry boots. The soles suddenly delaminated. I naively thought they were guaranteed for life and had Irish friends take them to the factory for repair. They were told that the factory could only repair older stitched on soles and could do nothing with...
I too became concerned about these units failing. Several years ago I fitted a remote push button start switch on a bracket close to the control unit on the side of my D2-55. Tested it after installing but never had to use it in anger. I used 2.5mm wire.
I’m a big fan of Gill classic wraparound sunglasses. Living in Portugal, the sun is fierce year round and they get a lot of use on land and sea. I’m on my 2nd pair in 6 years and still wear the old ones sometimes when doing messy jobs outside.
I had the same problem. My boots are oldish but very little wear to the soles. An Irish friend took my boots back to the factory only to be told the couldn’t repair them as the soles are glued on. He took them to a nearby cobbler who has fitted new soles for €65. I’ve not had them back yet so...
You’re not missing anything. I had similar problem with my cockpit drain hoses. I sourced silicon reducers online. They’re meant for use in car cooling systems so no problem coping with salt/fresh water at much lower temp. I was very impressed by the quality and ease of fitting.
In my experience, chandlers don’t stock it. Maybe because it doesn’t have “marine” on the label and is so cheap. It’s the best stuff for bedding deck hardware. Available in black or white and various widths, I get mine from Dortech Direct.
