VP (Paul) has been very generous with his advice over many years, a clever engineer that has certainly seen all aspects of marine diesel issues. The forum has been lucky to have him contribute.
Indeed, most don’t, even sanding old paint with an electric sander without a proper mask or dust extraction, and too bad for your neighbour working on his/her boat.
The fumes from AF paint while being applied is nasty as well, if you aren’t used to high potency paint fumes, mask up with a...
You will have a lot of fun with the renovation and cruising the vast canal systems of the neighbouring countries no doubt.
I think the weed problem is within all freshwater canal systems.
Good start Alicatt!
Assume you are based in Netherlands, but made reference to Scotland? Can you tell me what brand of boat she is, looks production GRP, also engine and drive system?
I like a good renovation thread :)
I think the angle of pull, whether it is tied to a floating buoy and retrieved with a boat hook from the bow sprit as the boat idles forward, or tied off to a bow located cleat, then pulled from the bow sprit, is going to be very similar.
If for some reason a dinghy is required to provide a...
Couldn’t agree more Mr G. I do a lot of night time work, and objects, land formations etc., alway appear a lot closer than they are in reality. Not sure if that is related just to my vision or not?
We are/were the same with Singapore, until Covid, enroute from Europe, always enjoyed the tropical environment. Doesn’t seem like a proper holiday unless you are wearing a T shirt and shorts
Indeed, it’s a harsh corrosive environment, and that’s without getting partially submerged! You can understand why tinned wire is the preference for marine installs, another layer of protection. It can be a fine line between connectivity and not!
when I fitted a second Tecma, it was plumbed with the option for either fresh, used most of the time, or seawater when required for longer periods away or multiple users aboard, then do final flushes with fresh at the end of the cruise.
A switch controls which water type is flushing, a Marco...
Nothing like a good SM video of his home waters to brighten up your day. An excellent production K, and yes as the children age, so do their priorities change, but they will come back! It’s also nice to just enjoy the peace and quiet without them occasionally :)
Boat is still looking in...
check all the terminal connections on the engine sensors to start with, loose fitting on the spade terminals, verdigris or not crimped tightly enough, then move to any junction terminals and the backs of the gauges themselves, assuming analogue. It doesn’t take much to create voltage...
