I had the same problem with my Dubarrys. Great grip when deck wet but treacherous when dry.
Returned them to Dubarry. They were returned to me with new soles and heels and the uppers restitched. All of this for about £40. A very good service not often seen these days.
I too have used tapered reverse direction screw extractor bits with limited success. The problem stems from the fact that if there is only a small thickness of the broken piece left in place there is every chance that the tapered extractor will spread the remnants and make it even more difficult...
I have 4. 2 long and 2 short.
The long one go from front of cockpit to forward edge of stern lockers.
The long ones are ideal for lying on and the short ones make a good backrest against cockpit bulk head. ideal in marina for soaking up the sun whilst resting.

Do not confuse price and quality! Seek advice from some body that has the type of tool that you want to purchase. I certainly agree that Halfords professional range is good value and good quality. periodically they are offered as a special purchase.
Actual quality is far better than a lifetime...
i understand this point of view but cannot agree. Out sailing when an item requires attention it probably needs it urgently. This is not the time to realise that a particular tool is not up to the job!
Mine too after being out of water and not turned on for some weeks. I also have radar (c80). I simply realigned with the c80 rotary control and all was as it should be.
