My mate bought a boat last year - a Colvic 22 - a very traditional chug-chug type motorboat - and the previous owner had been a merchant seaman who had spent a lot of years working up and down the coast of Morocco. He called the boat
"The Barbary Coast".
The boat is the least "Barbary Coast" boat out there. It would have to be an arrow shaped black powerboat.

I think astronomical names can be cool with their links to the navigators of old.
Pole Star - although this one can have a very different connotation these days
Orion
Cassiopeia - a constellation and a queen from Greek mythology

Similarly - Compass Rose

Back to nature and the river
Kingfisher
Teal
Widgeon

A berth neighbours boat was called " DILLIGAF "

Some on these pages might remember it. A blue hull Sealine 38.

The lovely lady of the boat, and her husband, were not aware of what it meant in Social Media speak.

When First Mate and I told them they were horrified.

But only for a moment - they then thought it was a great name ?
