Welcome to our new forum, dedicated to everything to do with yacht racing and the technology behind it, as well as marine technology and yacht and gear design in general.

Technology and design are subjects that are deep in Yachting World's DNA, and we’ve started this forum because it’s a particularly exciting period, with gear and sail developments as varied as the technology that keeps classic yachts and the modern J Class sparring to the latest foiling designs.

To kick this off, here is a taste of some of a subject we've been investigating recently: a foiling boat specially designed for club racers. Matt sailed the Formula Whisper and has made this fascinating video explaining how it works and why he is so sure foiling will become commonplace - click here

Watching the clip again, there's just enough room for the barger to sneak in. There's a good half a boatlength from the buoy. The leeward boat didn't shut the door in time and panicked.
