Fire Brigade was there this morning of the 19th May and this boat is just downstream of Staines bridge opposite The Swan Pub and the cottages.

Hopefully it will be removed soon but with the river on yellow boards the stream is rather fast there at this time.

I just drove over Staines Bridge and saw the boat in the water and was about to post on this forum as a warning to boaters. I thought it might be drifting towards Penton Hook Lock but as the initial post was two days ago I assume the boat is grounded as its still in the same position.

I drove over the bridge tonight too and the river is coming down now so you can see more of the bow in the water but still no warning bollards etc.

There is also one above Abingdon lock on the bends, pretty much in the middle of the river.

EA are aware as they marked it twice...once with the wrong colours and again when the floods washed them away a week later. It has been there the best part of 6 months... No idea what is happening with it other than it remains sunk and a unmarked hazard.

A group of EA people were at Bray lock when we were waiting to pass through. I wandered over and got chatting- they were looking to renew some of the capping timbers and post tops. Also mentioned a project team to remove sunken boats (???) and that they would be removing the one that’s been in the Bray upstream lock lay-by for years. Said it was a big project because there were so many in the river ?. I said there would be as none had been cleared for years ….. Spoke to the lock keeper when we were in the lock about the wreck and he confirmed he was expecting it to be removed (seemed a bit surprised)
