Pretty much breaking our Perkins Perama M30

She has served us well but she was leaking oil and being the original engine it's probably time.

I am in the process of swapping in a VP2030 which is based on the same Shibaura engine and even though its build by perkins as well there are a lot of extra parts.

The VP was sail drive model with 1400 hours so those parts are up for grabs along with the engine mounts etc

The old 1993 perkins always ran well, never smoked on start up it basically just leaked oil the last couple of years from the rear main.

I thought it was using water but it turns out there is a bad join in a calorfier hose near the aft of the boat. Only found that out once I had removed the engine

Saildrive bellhousing etc £50
Engine mounts £40
Decent looking alternator VP £75
Perkins Perama heat exchanger doodad £400 ( cleaned and inspected last year and boots replaced )
Perkins exhaust Elbow £100 ( cleaned and inspected last year )
Engine is for breaking or spares and repairs - shoot me an offer or tell me what you need

Engine is in Largs, Scotland. Delivery available for smaller parts.

Hi there, I am looking for the timing gear cover (just the cover). I don't need the water pump. Can you help me with this part? My number is 07907749576 if you need to call me, thanks.

If it's running ok can't you fix the leak and re use it? My old Perkins M30 did over 15000 hours.
It's running perfectly. I am too careful to try and take off the timing gear case in case it does further damage to the edges where it is corroded. Ideally, taking it off and putting in a new gasket would be the way to go but without a spare case/cover it is very risky. I have the new water pump and am going to fit it into the existing old case/cover. Hopefully with the new seals and the new mounting bolts I have, it will solve (I doubt it) or at least improve the leaking of oil at the base.

Can you tell me what you want for the timing gear case please? I don't need the water pump, just the case/housing.
