I flush my heat exchanger after each use with soft clean water from home. I check it after one year and it was as clean as when I put it in, no scale or debris. I think that the very soft fresh water sits in the tubes all week until the weekend run again and this helps to dissolve any scale that had formed, Preventative maintenance is better than fixing broken!
