In today's post was a buff envelope from that shower at the EA
Demand for monai - 'ow much???? (daylight robbery for the services we get
Print your own licence labels (ignores the fact that most office printing inks will fade rapidly)

I wonder whether it's really worthg it any more,
  • poor lock services,
  • grumpy staff
  • grumpy boaters
  • frequent lock breakdowns,
  • pumpouts not working,
  • no rubbish disposal
  • loads of unlicenced boats using the River for free
sniff, sniff, grumble, grumble
(Well someone's got to complain.....)

Oh well, mebe another year....

Print your own license, how many will bother! Seems like err.... a license to not pay :( presume lockies will just do spot checks if they suspect a boat. Car tax evasion went up massively when they did away with tax discs.

And the other side of the coin:

I received my renewal notice today as well.
I’m pleased it hasn’t gone up.
I paid it straight away - because I have to pay it sooner or later.
I’m looking forward to the spring.

And before you ask, I’ve been doing it for 30 years.
Says he, looking for the pic of my first boat which seems to have gone AWOL

The finest navigable length of leisure water in UK, probably in the world. All 120 miles of it. It has everything you could ever wish for.

Must work out a few farthings per kilometre an absolute steal . In the real world it would cost you double or treble what you pay to boat on it
And at a tiny fraction of the cost of staying in that posh marina and the wine bill :):):).

Not sure why demands for money can be posted out but not licences ?

Didn’t even get that - just an email demand.

That's one reason why I don't give out my email address willy-nilly. I d much rather use their printer rather my own...
I'm guessing that their change if process may be due to the current pox and not wanting to handle bits of paper.

I'm seriously thinking of getting my 'licence' from another source....

If it's true that EA are moving away from sending out nice registration plates with holograms on then that is a bad sign.

Extra workload on lock keepers at the end of the day, or increase in CBA issues..

Will they also not be sending out the double sided sticky envelopes? How many people have a laminating machine ?

Terrible. Ok for cars where roads are completely covered with cameras and cars have front and back easy to read number plates but for boats on the Thames ?

Not appropriate.

Someone spotted a cost saving but failed to realise the obvious problems.

Maybe they saw all the faded orange plates from 2020 and thought "let's get people to print their own black and white ones"...
