Well, yes, it would be. That will be why the new publishers insisted the forum as part of the deal. No good having a google of your title coming up with someone else's site:eek:

thing is, as far as google is concerned, The URL is everything. and whilst they may be moving the forum, it will get a brand new web address, which google at the moment knows bugger all about

googling classic boats will display the ybw.com forum address for a long long time to come

a forum on classicboat.co.uk or whatever will be starting from scratch and will take a long time to creep back to the top.

add to that the new 'Panda' update google launched, which specifically is seeking out websites where content has been duplicated ( http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-13091708 ) and is all but removing them from the results system

so while IPC think they have made a good deal its possible that it could back fire, classicboat.co.uk may never get off the google starting blocks and YBW.com could get knocked right back down the lists - effecting every aspect of there Internet presence not just forums and there advertising revenue

Google can be manipulated. Just like the old trick someone pulled when typing "French Military Victories" and pressing i'm feeling lucky would bring up a google page saying 'no matches found.'

google can be maniplulated - by google, folks that try get very short shrift from google indeed

that example was one of many of google's wheezes over the years - if you did a search rather than I'm feeling lucky it would say

"did you mean french military defeats"
