Couple of days spent in Chatham MDL Marina. Weather held up treat .
Curiously the fleet of 9 was almost made up exclusively of boats from the Princess stable with one or two wannabies from the Fairline mob butting in.
For those remotely interested , the wounded tally was one knackered bowthruster and a builders bag round the only boat with outdrives. :)
Suspect that MDLs electric bill is about to rocket looking at the number of devices plugged into their shorepower.
Thats really it now until next year and our New Years Day cruise.
Looking to arrival of a refugee from the Thmaes soon as well !

I was sitting by the River at Millwall yesterday around lunchtime having chips with my girls on our favourite bench in John McDougall gardens . Noticed a princess it looked about 36-40ft outward bound and did wonder if it was destined for the Medway.

“Keep, ancient lands, your storied pomp!” cries she
With silent lips. “Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!”

Yes but on the Thames we have Henley !
Oh joy unbridled and mirth unending.

Yea .............and i have some pix of a bent propeller blade as to proof of us mooring there .
" DO NOT MOOR HERE"
Signs were nailed to a tree .
You had to moor up to be able to get close enuff to read the tiny writing on them

The idea with Henley is that one keeps the boat moving.

Did manage to get past Henley once without being shouted at and dimly recall whacking a prop a few years prior, this time below the bridge when attemping to moor on the South Bank.
Might have been on our very first visit persuaded by B1 to enjoy the delights of the navigation.

  1. To narrow it down its the bit of the river at Henley that is shallow, full of hard sharp lumps of stone and they charge a queen's ransome to moor :)
