Needed a push start - heading south now!
No he's not, gone back for another go at the entrance.

One of those NUC nearly got me two years ago as we passed Cadiz. They were mooching, it was midnight.
Could this have been a crew change?
Tied up now anyway. NUC doesn't really mean that much, might have been like that for years or maybe they switched it on while drifting around. Pilot went out 11am this morning, waiting a day for a pilot to go into port?
Seems very unlikely, maybe just waiting for space?

Perhaps we'll never know....... :)

Great timewaster AIS :) , and shows just how rubbish marinetraffic et al are for any kind of real world nav.....

Unless I've completely misunderstood the definition of NUC, they failed the Day Skipper exam for putting NUC unless something was broken
Still happens quite often though. Ships will drift waiting to get into port and occasionally some show NUC.

Maybe these guys just never set the ais up properly in the first place or forgot to reset the nav status.

Vesselfinder says ETA 11am yesterday so maybe they just got to the entrance early.
