Solent incident

Can anyone throw any light on the 'major incident' off Shanklin, IoW, which caused the Coastguard to get into a paddy on Sunday afternoon? I heard nothing on Radio news and haven't seen the papers since.

Yes, I heard the Coastguard bruskly asking for no routine radio check requests on Sunday (though I think this was a reasonable request).

The local (southern) TV news had a brief piece about the collapse of some cliffs at Shanklin on Sunday and featured Coastguard footage of the landslip. Apparantly some walkers had to make a dash for it to avoid the collapse. No reported injuries on the TV piece.

Thanks:

Funnily enough that was one of my guesses.

It is unusual for the Coastguard to demand radio silence on all channels - they obviously wanted to shut up the 'radio check' brigade. Also, I didn't hear a 'Seelonce Feenee' message
