Thanks. Looks like it has no advantage for UK boating.
I only went for it due to the possibility of French authorities getting funny about my RYA certs should I travel there and be unlucky enough to get some grumpy gendarme type inspecting my boat papers. As things go with Brexit and the Pandemic I now have no desire at all to go to France this year. You are right, there is no need to have it for UK waters at all.

Not according to previously linked to RYA page which states 'Not required' for Ireland.

The ICC is not required universally throughout the EU.

For me it's an element of belt and braces and why not. Your back is covered if you do go to France or Ireland and, God forbid, if something goes wrong and insurers are involved at least you can show some level of competence and responsibility in having a PB2 and an ICC. A bit like my duty of care as a landlord.
