Well underway after the winter floods delayed work.
Very busy loads of workmen and equipment on site.
Popped up for a quick look.
Gates appear to be back but chamber empty.
Lots of stuff going on in area around lock.
Hopefully open by first week in June.
No sign yet of any improved moorings in lock cut ?

Nice to see the EA are investing in the infrastructure of the Upper Medway and that PEEL ports are making some efforts to tidy up the river below the lock.

Rumours that controlled passage simlar to Hammersmith ?? might be allowed to get boats transiting the lock ASAP.
Things are looking up.

Thanks for the update. I've postponed my planned visit to the medway, may even be next year now.

Hints on Facebook that the completion of the lock renovation is back on track and that Allington lock may open in early June.
Gates have now been tested for water tightness ?
Fingers crossed, will really nice to have option of turning left when the weather is inclement out in the estuary and the prospect of a peaceful weekend on the non tidal bit with only the sounds of bowthrusters breaking the silence.
Be interesting to find out if the recent clearing of the river debris around Aylesford is noticable. It did pass the time spotting three piece suites en route to Allington.

Hate to disappoint you but went up a couple of weeks ago in the tender and it's just as bad as its always been. No sign of a crap catcher either.

Was hoping to hire the chalets but all the " plant" was parked on the grassed area in front of them.
Will pop up and see them during the week.
