Knowing the current condition of the stretch of Thames you are on or approaching is a key safety need for every user of the river. The information is available from the EA web site and the free River Thames Guide app; in both cases there are a few links to navigate and you end up seeing the current conditions. for the entire non-tidal river.
Now it is much, much easier and safer - with Thames Widgets you can have one or more medium sized widget on your smartphone or tablet:
Select any stretch of the river and you will have a widget showing that stretch and the immediate upstream and downstream stretches. For example: select Marsh and you will see Shiplake to Marsh, Marsh to Hambleden and Hambleden to Hurley. You can have as many widgets as you wish (on iOS up to ten can be stacked to save screen space).
Now live on the Apple App Store and Google Play, Thames Widgets is available for iOS (iPhone, iPad, iPod), Mac and Android. More details (including installation guidelines) and download links here.
