Yes this was shocking and sad. We haven’t been there since the ‘Craig Bellamy’ version of Pier 64 was in full swing. Whilst pretentious, in around 2015/16 they had an absolutely superb bar manager who gave a fantastic welcome to actual yachtsmen as opposed to the landlubber types the bar was actually trying to attract. Very good memories of it during that time.

the ‘original’ Pier 64 which opened in 2011 was ridiculous; fifty quid for a steak with no sides and filled to the brim with people with no connection to boats dressed up like they were attending a yacht club- themed fancy dress party. Foulies and a sea-weary look (normal for us BC sailors) almost always got sideways looks from the staff. We used to only go on to get tipsy and laugh at the patrons.

we used to get a few gins in and then a (cabs 64!) taxi to the Jaflon and that’s long gone too.

I hope the business can be saved and something promising returns- given the value of the property surely something will- but maybe it’s a long haul.

They had opened a floating bar just below the restaurant. Had a couple of beers there over the last few weeks as you could go there scruff order. Sad to see it trashed after a couple of weeks. They seem to want to rise out of the ashes, though it will take a year or so.
