Had a college friend Robert Wingate who if I recall entered the race he was 23 years old but I cannot recall if it was in a a boat called Zeevalk Or that was the name of the boat I helped him get ready for the round Britain race a few years later but he never entered as there where problems with the mast step,

Yes, Robert Wingate had entered the race with Zeevalk (there is a nice photo of her in the book), but he retired - it also mentions that he was the youngest competitor.
Thanks,I think he had the same problems with the mast step,such along time ago now.......he disappeared and did not get involved with ocean racing again as far as I know
