Thanks,I think he had the same problems with the mast step,such along time ago now.......he disappeared and did not get involved with ocean racing again as far as I knowYes, Robert Wingate had entered the race with Zeevalk (there is a nice photo of her in the book), but he retired - it also mentions that he was the youngest competitor.
There was also a book written about the 1968 Race (I have a copy) - available on Amazon second hand for 4 pounds.
