on one documented interaction / attack ( video , you tube catamaran ) they were trailing an inflatable which seemed to divert some attention from the hulls / ruddder . i see no other mention of this possible action , i would have thot maybe some mention or attempted use .

I always thought the orcas were smart. They've realised it's the fishermen not the sailors that are stealing their food.

The Portuguese newspaper JN reports that the professional fishing boat Boa Estrela with a crew of four was attacked last Tuesday off Troia by four orcas for20 minutes, damaging the rudder so that she had to be towed in.
A pod of four suggests that these were not the Gladys lot.

The alert was received at 14h00, through the Centre for Control and Supervision of the Port of Sines, and elements of the Maritime Police of Sines were committed to the scene.
Upon arrival to the scene, the elements of the Maritime Police found that the two crew members were well, without need for medical assistance, and subsequently accompanied the towing manoeuvre, carried out by a tugboat, throughout the transit to the recreational port of Sines"

I dont think they have a set time to destroy cruisers sailing plains .
I know people keep on about how intelligent they are but they not got as far as telling the time yet.

Most attacks have happened at night, so sailing during daylight hours is one of the main ways of staying safe.
Maybe this thread should be unpinned and a new one started which just reports the actual incidents.
