1. GRAVESEND REACH - FIREWORK DISPLAY -
contractors instructed by Gravesham Borough Council will stage a firework display in Gravesend Reach on Friday 05th November 2021. Fireworks will be launched from Port of London Authority (PLA) vessel LONDON TITAN, which will be moored off Gordon Promenade. The firework display is expected to commence at 2000 and be of 20 minutes’ duration. A safety zone, as marked in red on the chartlet below, will be established between approximately 1945 and 2030. During this time period, no vessel is to enter the safety zone, except with the express permission of either London VTS or the attending PLA Harbour Service Launch. Vessels already secured on their allocated moorings within the safety zone may remain at the Owners’ own risk but must not be underway at any time while the safety zone is in force.
2. NAVIGATIONAL NEAR MISS & INCIDENTS - NEW WAY OF REPORTING - A new way of reporting Navigational Near Misses and Incidents has been developed and is now publicly available to all River Users through our website or the PLA Tidal Thames app on your smartphone. To report a Near Miss or Incident via our website, go to pla.co.uk and click on Near Miss & Incident Reporting on the home page. To report a Near Miss or Incident via the PLA Tidal Thames app, scroll down on the main page or hit the menu button (three horizontal lines on the top left) and select ‘Report Near Miss / Incident’. You will then be redirected to an external site. See the full Notice by going to: Notices to Mariners and select the Local List.
3. RIVER MEDWAY – MEDWAY APPROACH CHANNEL - SS RICHARD MONTGOMERY WRECK SURVEY - Briggs Marine will be undertaking a detailed survey of the SS Richard Montgomery wreck and have obtained written permission to enter the prohibited area from the MCA receiver of Wreck. The survey work will be completed between 20th October 2021 and 31st October 2021 and will be carried out within the exclusion zone of the wreck. The Briggs Marine vessel “Thames Guardian” will conduct survey operations and will maintain a listening watch on VHF Ch.74 at all times. Please be advised that during survey operations the vessel will be restricted in it’s ability to manoeuvre and other vessels are requested to pass with caution and minimise their wash. During survey operations the vessel will display the appropriate day shapes/signals and lights as required by the IRPCS
4. Ipswich Lock Closure - updated - Ipswich Lock will be closed for essential maintenance from 06:00 Monday 1st November 2021 until 18:00 Sunday 14th November 2021.
During these works we are unable to continue normal locking in and out activities. Transit through the lock may be possible during free flow (shortly before high water). Vessels intending to transit during free flow are requested to give 24 hours advance notice. In addition, please be aware that an additional pontoon will be located on the west wall to enable maintenance – this will restrict the width available and the beam of vessels which can safely transit the lock.
If the works are completed earlier than expected, then the lock will be re-opened to normal operation as soon as possible. Please contact Orwell Navigation Service, callsign ‘Ipswich Port Radio’ on VHF 68 or 01473 213526 for the latest information and advice.
5. Scientific Survey – River Orwell - a scientific survey will be undertaken on Saturday 6th November 2021 in the River Orwell. The survey will be carried out by 18m survey vessel ‘Humber Guardian’, callsign 2ENC3, and will involve use of trawl nets.
Mariners are requested to keep well clear of this vessel during the surveying work and particularly when engaged in trawling.
6. The Wash - Approaches to King’s Lynn - Change of position: Light Buoy “B” - has been moved to the following position. 52° 49.090’ N 00° 21.146’ E. Please note that this position is approx. 15m to the east of the remains of beacon “B” base and the buoy provides a visual indication of the foul ground area centred on: 52° 49.090’ N 00° 21.136’ E.
7. Burnham Fairway No. 11 Lighted Buoy - is back in operation.

That's it.

Shotley Horse was removed by the 14 th. It had me quite confused on my way back from Stour to the Orwell and trying to keep clear of the spit near low water.

Agreed. I was towing a yacht off the spit last Saturday and couldn't see it!
