1. RIVER THAMES - SEA REACH - DREDGING OPERATIONS -
On or around 4th May 2021, Dredger ‘MAAS’ will commence plough dredging operations at London Gateway, Berths 1 & 2. Dredging will take place on the ebb tide only, with expected completion around 6th May 2021. The timing of the works may be adjusted for operational reasons - further details will be broadcast by London VTS on VHF Channel 68. The work may require vessels to proceed with caution or at slow speed. Such requests will be broadcast by London VTS, as per the requirements detailed in Notice to Mariners No. 8 of 2021. The vessel is required to display lights and signals as per the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea. The chartlet can be seen in the Local List at: Notices to Mariners
2. Update: Oakley Creek – Walton Backwaters - the obstruction previously reported in Harwich Haven Authority Notice to Mariners number 15 of 2021 regarding an obstruction in Oakley Creek, mid-way between the “Gate”
formed by adjacent port and starboard beacons and the first starboard hand beacon after leaving the EPC berth situated within the Walton Backwaters has now been removed. (Good-oh!)
3. Great Yarmouth - New Lifting Bridge – Commencement of Construction - marine construction work on the new lifting bridge project will be commencing on Tuesday 4th May 2021. The first phase will involve excavation of quayside and installation of piles to form the foundation of the Western bascule pit at berth 31 (see the download in the Local List for location diagram). Piling will be undertaken from jack-up barge HAVEN SEARISER 3, which will be supplied by multi-cat vessel SHEERKHAN and flat-top barge BCDK 6464 (see download for pictures of the vessels). Regular vessel movements will be undertaken between the work area and berth 13B on the opposite bank. Vessels may be moored on either side of the river. All vessels and any overside work locations will be efficiently illuminated during hours of darkness and in restricted visibility. Mariners should maintain a listening watch on VHF Ch12 at all times, approach the area with caution, pass at the slowest safe manoeuvrable speed and keep well clear. No swinging of vessels will be permitted in the vicinity of the work area. If in doubt or if requiring further information vessels should contact Yarmouth Radio on VHF Channel 12 or telephone +44 (0)1493 335511
4. River Medway - Saltpan Reach – BP IOG. No1 - Dredging Operations - dredging operations are due to take place at BP Isle of Grain No.1 jetty. Dredging will commence on or around 9th May 2021 and is expected to be complete by 14th May 2021. Operations will be focussed around the “berthing box” and will be carried out by the water injection dredger ‘Maasmond’. ‘Maasmond’ will display the required signals for respective operations by day and night, all vessels are requested to pass with caution and minimise their wash. Chartlet and icture in the Local List;
5. Approaches to King’s Lynn - Removal of East Stones Light Buoy - as a result of impact damage sustained from several vessels the East Stones Light Buoy (52° 48’.122N 00°21’.668E) has been removed from station for repairs.
Please contact the Harbour Office for further information.
6. Port of Wells is dredging;
7. Blakeney Harbour Entrance Channel - Mariners should be aware that entry into Blakeney Harbour must be undertaken with extreme caution at the present time. The entry channel has shifted East and the wreck of the HJORDIS is currently in the middle of the channel. Vessels entering the harbour should note the following:
  • Do not attempt entry outside of 1hr either side of HW
  • Do not attempt entry if there is breaking swell on Blakeney Bar or if the swell height exceeds 1M
  • Vessels should proceed from the West heading towards the Hjordis wreck beacon in an Easterly direction, as indicated on the photo above.
  • Pass the Hjordis wreck beacon approx 50M to the South and continue to the first buoy (port).
  • Turn SSW when reaching this first port buoy and head for the second buoy (starboard).
  • After passing this starboard buoy, continue SSW until passing between the next port and starboard buoys (gate) and onward following the buoys into the harbour.
Vessels intending to enter the harbour for the first time are strongly advised to obtain up to date pilotage information by contacting Blakeney Harbour Association (numbers listed in the Local List). Important aerial image on the Local List on the above quoted page.

That's it.
