Thought I'd let you know we are on the coast of Norway at Stavanger about to go into the real deep fjords - local ones up to 400 metres.
Couple of points about sailing here.
1. lots of different mooring methods in marinas - boxes, stern anchors, stern buoys, pick up ropes from dock to anchor, boxes, wobbly frames.
2. at present no VHF marine F/Cs!!. Navtex works from time to time but not inland and not in Stavanger harbour.

I'm sorry. Listing harbours is impracticable. There must be tens of thousands of places where one can anchor, tie up to rocks or just plain moor. Information sources weve used include. Den Norske Los in umpteen volumes Kysten Var also in several volumes and 2 different harbour lists. Some of the guest harbours are only on the small scale Batsport Karts. Some are not listed at all but can be deduced from the charts or from symbols for nearby toilets and rubbish bins. The situation clearly changes year by year. However, with good charts you should be ok. The best advice we ever received was "Keep your finger on the chart all the time".
Oh yes. Dont ever try using anything but major waterways without large scale charts. In some places a magnifying glass is a good ides too.
