Welcome to the forum Manosc.

Sorry to say, I know nothing of the delights of the Nordship 32. Doubtless others will be along to enlighten you with whatever information they have (I'm sure Bajansailor will have something for you).

Where do you keep and sail your boat ?

Sailboadata.com doesn't list the 32 at all but Scandinavian built boats in general are usually good quality, arguably better suited to the UK climate than your BenJenBavs because they're designed with sailing in more northerly latitudes in mind. Maybe you could post a few pics, we always like to see a few pics...:)

Here is one that was for sale with Boatshed, but is now 'off the market' - however there are lots of photos for good reference.
You have to register / log in with Boatshed to see the photos.

Nordship 32 For Sale, 9.65m, 1986

Manosk, does your boat also have a Volvo 2003 with a saildrive leg?
If yes, be aware that you need to take good note of the service intervals for the saildrive leg, and do not exceed them.
If anybody asks questions about Volvo 2003's on here, they usually inspire a debate as passionate as one about anchors - if you do a Google search (typically you could look for 'YBW Forum Volvo 2003' ) I am sure that you will bring up many threads about them.

I will endorse V1701's request for some photos of your fine vessel please.

Yes, very nice boat, perfect for sailing with a family in the Baltic where it was made, and for Scotland where the one was for sale. 6 berths in a centre cockpit 32' perhaps not ideal for Med sailing. guess this one was sailed there by its owner from N Europe as part of the "big adventure". Would have been a very expensive boat when new with all the best equipment and loads of teak inside as the photos show. The one in Scotland is maybe the only one in the UK. Don't remember them having any presence in the UK in period, although a few of the later larger ones were sold in the early 2000s when they had an active agent and the £ still had some value.

A decent VP 2003 is a s good as any other decent engine of the same vintage. That's to say it may be getting towards the end of its life, or it may be good for many more years. If it starts well from cold and doesn't smoke once warmed up, it's probably fine. Knowing the correct starting procedure may well make the difference between swearing by it and swearing at it.

A saildrive is a saildrive. Personally, I prefer a shaft, but that's just my preference. Look after the drive and it'll look after you, same as any other piece of machinery of its age.

I have seen one or two of them around, although not lately. I always thought they were fine looking boats and wished I could afford one.
