" houseboat community, "

House boat moorings for rent.
Interesting ,if dusty, views of a ballast wharf unstream , watch the giant natural gas ships unload right next door and give them a wave.
Just across the river, admire the 600 foot high oil rig dwarfing the car carriers moored at the delightful and picturesque Sheerness Docks.
Glimpse mysterious Sarfend and fun loving Canvey refinary in the hazy romantic distance.
Please note your house boat will need all the plantpots welded to the deck due the exciting prospect of the 10 ft waves when the wind goes against the tide.
Be the envy of your friends when you point out the Richard Montgomery and go into detail about the xplosives on board and all only a mile away.
Local amenities . Ring 999 and ask for the lifeboat. :)

Interestingly this comes up for sale quite regularly, It was last up for £750k then dropped to 500, so someone looks like they're hoping to make a killing with that asking price
I think it almost sold for 400 a few years ago and then the buyer came to his senses.

Compared with the price that is asked for the Solent Forts or Drake's Island £2m is wildly optimistic

Yes I remember £500k being advertised. There was a hilarious video of an estate agent standing on it pointing up river towards Queenborough and saying something like 'London is that way, takes about 1/2 an hour 40 minutes on a speed boat,'

"COME WITH ADDITIONAL LAND "

presume the " land" is what remains of the causeway from the seawall to the fort and only touchable mostly around LW.

Wonder if the vendor has ever been off Garrison Point in mid January with nice big spring ebb and brisk and bracing NE F8 .

Aha - that'll be 'cos it's in the Londo air control area (methinks) - but that spoils the joke.....

From dim and distant memory if remaining under certain height pretty sure Lille was where the flight plan had to be logged.
The biggest stuff can remember based in there were some Tri-landers and a visiting Hercules, think that the crew were on some sort of where shall we go jolly .
Vague memories of a passenger jet parked there. ???
On that particular day Chum had had hired runway for anhour to test a Lotus GT1 .
Still got pix somewhere of the car parked in front of the Hercules and a grinning crew in the background.
Hired one of the Tri-landers to take us to Abbeville to watch the total eclipse in 1999.
