For those of you who are interested in the RNLI there is a short film 'Shipshape' (1947) on the BFI iPlayer, access is free.
It was directed by Paul Dickson (who also directed the Festival of Britain Film 'David') entering on the activity of the Shoreham Lifeboat, and was part of a fund raising exercise by the RNLI.
I met Paul Dickson back in 2000 and had some interesting discussions with him, surprisingly he has forgotten about directing Shipshape, but when we screened it for him he was 'over the moon' and couldn't believe he'd forgotten it

Seen a few of that class of boat, Tuna fishing poles you can see. Deep raked sternpost, very shallow bow, spin on a centime. That's why similar crab boats had the hauler midships.

Lovely!

Germon (in the title) = Albacore = Longfin Tuna

Here's an odd thing though: at the end of the clip, once out the harbour, they're off on starboard tack, but the wind-vane atop the entrance light seems to be indicate the wind coming from the left...?
