My first cruising

Hi there,
I am going for my first cruising in this December. Since it is winter, do I need to take any precautions? What all safety measures do I need to take? I usually have vein cramps during winter, will they provide any medical assistance? Also, I heard about travel insurance from an article https://www.aspirefcu.org/blog/life-advice/should-you-invest-in-travel-insurance/. I already have whole life insurance, do I need to take travel insurance?
