Hi all,

I'm hoping that someone on here will be able to help me identify this boat. I am her current owner and she was given to me by a friend who was emigrating to New Zealand about 6 or 7 years ago. He bought her a few years before that with the idea of restoring her but unfortunately he never managed to realise this ambition. In fact she sat in the corner of a field for years with no cover, slowly deteriorating.

When I took her on, I also had grand ideas about restoring her but then I got married and had a child, etc.. the usual story. However, since she has been in my posession, I have kept her under cover in a big barn.

I have realised that I'm never going to have the time/money to restore her and am looking to find someone to take her off my hands, who will hopefully get her back in the water.

She is around 30ft LOA, named "Susan". Currently located near to the Helford River in Cornwall.

There have been various stories about her passed on through various owners: She might have been a dunkirk little ship, she was the fastest boat on the Helford river, she used to have 2 engines, etc.. etc.. however not much actual information managed to filter through, so I have no idea where or when she was built, what her original engine would have been, things like that.

If anyone is able to shed any light on this I'd be very grateful. And if you're interested in taking her on as a restoration project let me know!

Thanks,

John.

Welcome to the Forum John.
If she was a Dunkirk 'Little Ship', there should hopefully be a mention of her somewhere to that effect - there is a lot of info online about them.
I doubt that she originally had twin engines - she is relatively narrow, and the space would be pretty tight for two of them, while still having room for people as well.
Re the last photo, showing the sorry looking white topsides, was this taken a while ago before the topsides were sanded down as per the two exterior hull photos?

Thanks! Yes that's right, the last photo was taken earlier than the rest, just after I took her on. The other photos are from when I started working on her, and then found and modified a trailer to fit her and transport her to her current location in the barn.
