Boat size & type? Makes a difference as to which anchorages may be viable.

If you haven't already got it I suggest you buy 'A Sea Guide to the Pembrokeshire Coastline' by Tom Bennett, previously published by Happy Fish but apparently now an Imray product.

There are few places to stop at, except in very settled weather, between Pwllheli and St Brides Bay. We tend to go straight across Cardigan Bay. Subscribe to the QinetiQ weekly email about Aberporth range activity.

Quite a few of the anchorages are affected by swell from the SW, so a N or E wind for a couple of days before parking can be helpful.

The classic island anchorage is Skomer's South Haven. Inside the Haven Dale anchorage is always useful. Towards the top of the Haven waterway, before it splits into the East and West Cleddau, Lawrenny moorings are good. The anchorages in Castle Reach and at the top end of the Black Tar moorings are best with local knowledge.
