Actually, it's even slightly more amusing - Patriae is literally "Fatherland"! So, a slightly more literal translation would be "The fate of our fatherland is in your hands"?Splendid copper and brass work, but have you read the Latin inscription on the plate on the lower part.
"Fata huius Patriae in Vestris Manibus est"
Translates as "The Fate of this country is in your hands"
