Splendid copper and brass work, but have you read the Latin inscription on the plate on the lower part.
"Fata huius Patriae in Vestris Manibus est"
Translates as "The Fate of this country is in your hands" ;):mad:
Actually, it's even slightly more amusing - Patriae is literally "Fatherland"! So, a slightly more literal translation would be "The fate of our fatherland is in your hands"?

Not my experience of the Royal Knobs & Snobs a couple of years ago, the so-called bosun was particularly unhelpful, I would not revisit...(n)

It is a shame that you didn’t have a good experience but was it really so bad as to vow never to visit again?

We were members for several years and kept our boat there for five years and I don’t think anyone would think of us as ‘Knobs or Snobs.’ A delightful old clubhouse, excellent food and a friendly crowd in the main was our experience. Perhaps you might have a better experience if you give it another try?
