Well done Rob on the recovery of your trailer!

How old is your Lab? My Cocker is 8mths, and prime puppy sailing acclimatisation is being lost right now...!

Do not worry about any delay. My lab only started when she was 6 years old and now at 11¾ she needs a little help to get onboard, but still loves it.

Lab is one today, but we’ve used our RIB to take him to East Head in Chichester to get him used to going in the sea! It works! Now got to train him to get out of it.
BTW, plenty of boats ignoring the stay overnight ban in Chichester, but HM in Dartmouth is repeating Bojo rules, so I guess I’ll just have to repeat my 387 mile round trip again to check if she’s still afloat!

Once many years ago in Bournemouth I climbed into my boss's wife's Ford Anglia which I'd borrowed for the weekend but something wasn't right. I sat there trying to work out what when a very irate bloke arrived and wanted to rearrange me. 2 cars further up the street was another 2-tone blue Anglia, my key (and his) fitted both. Eventually he believed me and reading the above I am glad he was a reasonable man. Without the story of the trailer taker and returner, we have no idea of his motivations or possible honest mistakes.

In the 70s and 80s British Leyland only used four (iirc) keys for all the cars they made, so a BL key had a 1 in 4 chance of fitting any other BL car. However, you could improve even those odds, because a BL locking petrol cap key would open and start any BL car.

Interesting.
im sure he had a good reason to detach my trailer from my car, take off my reg plate, having been filmed on CCTV inside the secure area for 3 hours

How about he was hired to pick up a trailer that was to be delivered to your marina. Phonecalls with the hirer led him to believe yours was that trailer but that you as the deliverer had not yet unhitched it so after 3 hours he carefully removed the number plate and off he went only to have his error pointed out when the hirer saw it. Smart about turn and he returned the trailer. Plausible? If his intentions were nefarious, poncing around for 3 hours in front of CCTV cameras before striking and then returning with his loot, seems unlikely to further his criminal career.

I had a similar experience with my father's Escort, though with owners threatening dissection. I was fortunate that my key didn't work in the ignition, but it was only when I noticed that the radio also had a cassette player, which ours didn't that I realised my error and stopped swearing at the jammed ignition.

I did the same. I borrowed my wives Golf to run to the shops. When I came out, strange, I don't appeared to have locked it. I sat in the car. Put the key in but it would not work. Then I thought "that radio looks different" At that point I saw my wifes car, identical model and colour 2 cars away.

I got out sheepishly and thankfully the owner had not seen me.

I once had an unusual Alfa - a very limited edition, and quite distinctive. I was surprised to see an identical one in a public car park, and parked next to it for amusement sake. On returning I carefully got into the right one and left the car park, only to encounter the other one's owner walking in at the exit - he was just about to launch himself over the bonnet when he realised it wasn't his.

Didn't you say they took your number plate off it too? Unbelievable, glad you got it back but hope the police don't buy the story.
Almost certainly from the travelling community, which is using camper vans more and more in stead of caravans. Only thing is, travellers don’t give a hoot about visits from the police...”bought it in a pub mate, paid cash, sorry no receipt”.

Bloke parks his Mazda in a Lisbon carpark, right next to an identical one, then notices it has the same reg ?? Calls the cops and they hang around to welcome the owner. Seems he bought the car in good faith in Oporto but it was a stolen and cloned car. Sympathetic police, but he lost the car.
Just as well they didn't subscribe to the summary execution idea.

A few years ago, I hired a car from Alicante Airport, an Alfasud. There were four identical Alfa’s lined up side by side. I pressed the unlock key, and all fours cars simultaneously unlocked!!

A situation I have had on 4 occasions, with a return to the desk to ask which was mine to rent.

Ho, ho, had much the same mix up about 30 years back. My colleague had asked me to sort out a sticking solenoid on her yellow Metro, my shift finished at one and I wandered to the car park, found a yellow Metro and with only the slightest difficulty opened up and got to work. 20 minutes later a midwife I knew finished her shift at 1.30 and approached me asking WTF I was up to. I slid out from underneath, she recognized me and said the immortal words " if your looking for Emma's car, it's over there". She thanked me for sorting out HER sticky solenoid (I didn't charge her) and sorted Emma's car before SHE finished at 2.30.
A couple of days later, we ended up doing a real emergency c.section together and halfway through she thanked me by remarking that the car now started 1st time every day!

My father once sold a boat trailer on a Friday afternoon and it was paid for by cheque. On Monday morning the trailer was back in its usual place. The cheque bounced.

I once parked a friend's white Beetle, YDV862L, in a car park and when I got out found that I had parked next to another white Beetle, YDV863L.

A few years ago I dropped my wife off to pop out to use a cash point at a local co-op. I was driving her red Kia Ceed and stayed in the drivers seat whilst parked justb down the road. Another red car pulled up behind me. My wife walked up to the car and opened the passenger door and got in. She was very surprised when she realised the driver was not me. We still chuckle about today.
