I'm just doing some housework on our website and I've improved our Friends' Sailing Blog page. If you'd like to add your sailing blog, feel free to do so. Now you can add an image, format the text, add links, bullet points etc. I've also reranked the entry order so the latest blog entry appears first.

If you've already added your blog details you should be able to return to it and edit your entry (PM me if you get stuck). If you've not added your details, feel free to do so. I've added in an example entry.

In case anyone's interested- here's our blog. We're about to begin our circumnavigation this year, but have kept the blog over the past couple of years to document our season cruising the west coast of France, as well as our preparation.

Then when you decide on your platform to blog on then think about looking at SEO and links to social media. A website can be very simple or very, very complicated and like everything else it continually evolves.
Wordpress is a base to build upon. You can write a whole website easily without knowing any code, you can add some of your own. What it can give you is the ability to expand and change as your knowledge of wordpress changes.

Our Blog is up and running at http://www.touchandgosailing.com and we have a Facebook page (Touchandgosailing) and YouTube channel as well.

All very much a work in progress, and while we count down the next 7 weeks to casting off, we are slowly adding content, albeit in a somewhat revisionist form (vids and write ups are from previous years).

SWMBO is not happy with the current look and feel, so it is very much a work in progress. It is a self hosted Wordpress site, and one of the drawbacks is that you are working on a "live" site which leaves you with the chance of alienating visitors while you try out different theme's, etc... I've tried running WP on my own PC to do this offline, but no success as yet (most likely due to conflicts with other software that I run). Although I work in IT, this stuff is light years away from my field (Mainframe Performance Monitoring) so I am very much bumping around in the dark.

Appreciate any comments and tips etc...

Cheers, PT

We have been cruising for 6 months now from California to Mexico thus far. You can find our blog at www.westernlens.com. As a photographer I try and make a visually compelling story out of our travels. My wife, a published writer, keeps things interesting on the story end. I will also be posting how-to and other interesting and helpful knowledge along the way. If you are interested we also a keeping a vlog at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCV2qERQTaNHbI9lzMjAhslg . Should be fun! Hope you join along for the ride!!

Being relative novice liveaboards we have noticed that the people on this forum are spread far and wide and between them have a wealth of information.

A lot of liveaboards also have websites that others would find amusing, informative and helpful for the area they are sailing in.

My suggestion is to put your website on this thread along with a broad area that it covers and where you are now so others sailing to those areas can pick your brains, gain knowledge from the blogs or even meet up for a drink. Putting the type of boat you sail may also help others if they have the same type.

To start the ball rolling our website is probably not your usual type but a light harted look at the places and people we are visiting along the way.

Here

We are on an Oyster 45 and having sailed England we have been to Normandy the Chanel Islands and are now in Britany (we think).
As an update we have now been sailing nearly three years so our blog now covers Spain, Portugal, Med Spain, The Balearic's, part of Sardinia and Sicily.

Please feel free to send an e mail as it is always good to make new friends and ignore the people you don't like.

Thought I'd add our updated blog with its new home; www.gbr195T.com - my ramblings & photo's cover a range of stuff starting with our early cruising adventures in the Med in 2001 to more recent life as an expat and a sailor in the Middle and Far East to our Trans-Atlantic crossing and exploring the Caribbean in 20014. Coming next year our planned adventure in the Pacific as we sail from Grenada to Singapore!
