Being relative novice liveaboards we have noticed that the people on this forum are spread far and wide and between them have a wealth of information.

A lot of liveaboards also have websites that others would find amusing, informative and helpful for the area they are sailing in.

My suggestion is to put your website on this thread along with a broad area that it covers and where you are now so others sailing to those areas can pick your brains, gain knowledge from the blogs or even meet up for a drink. Putting the type of boat you sail may also help others if they have the same type.

To start the ball rolling our website is probably not your usual type but a light harted look at the places and people we are visiting along the way.

Here

We are on an Oyster 45 and having sailed England we have been to Normandy the Chanel Islands and are now in Britany (we think).
As an update we have now been sailing nearly three years so our blog now covers Spain, Portugal, Med Spain, The Balearic's, part of Sardinia and Sicily.

Please feel free to send an e mail as it is always good to make new friends and ignore the people you don't like.

I used to keep one until I realised how few people actually read it. The effort was simply not worth keeping so few in reading material. Sorry Mum.

Saying that, I am still very much in favour of websites that provide excellent information ~ especially for free:
http://www.cruiser.co.za ~ dig a little to find pilotage info for the whole world.
http://www.cruiser.co.za ~ dig a little more to find user manuals for just about anything related to your boat.
http://www.noonsite.com ~ more pilotage info.
http://www.windguru.com ~ one of many, many free weather sites.
http://www.7knots.com ~ one of many free crew/boat finder websites.
http://www.bluemoment.com ~ great source of information and also owned by a forumite.
http://www.uksail.com/ ~ links to many sailing related sites

There are several others. Since this thread is about our own blogs or websites, I don't feel shy about giving my new site a punt. I started Desperate Sailors which does many things and is completely free for boat owners and crew:
~ You've arrived in a new anchorage and desperately need a mechanic. Anchored in the same bay is a mechanic that doesn't charge mega bucks. Desperate Sailors connects you.
~ You've left it too late and need to head south to avoid the hurricane season and desperately need crew with good watch keeping experience. Desperate Sailors connects you.
~ You arrive in a new anchorage and desperately want to know where the next social event is. Desperate Sailors connects you with the pot luck, book swap, BBQ, boat jumble, open mic night...
~ Stay in touch with sailing friends, chat or message them. Create events, photo albums.

In summary, it is about sailors helping fellow sailors.

Just posting to point out tha displaying signatures on is optional on YBW, so not everybody will see the links that (I assume) have been included in some of the posts in this thread.

Oyster 406 being prepared in N.Wales. Not a sailing blog yet but contains details of the refit. Will circumnavigate when ready!

The first time I typed this on the Reader to Reader forum I inadvertently put .net instead of .org
Turns out sephina.net is a belly dancer site. I'm sure it gets a lot more hits than mine.
WRT the number of hits "stingo" is probably right. Google analytics show average of 4 hits per day but I do it for my own amusement.

Not aboard right now due to financial pressure (no pension, temporary contract etc). Blog since 2007 covers Gib/northern Morocco, east Spain, S France, W Italy to Rome including Tuscan islands, Corsica, Sardinia, S Sicily and Malta.

We will be starting again next spring.

Must confess we are quietly look at small, old, sailable (cheap!) boats to pootle around the English E coast and do some frostbite sailing over winter, in which case we'll blog about that.

Great initiative to get all the blogs in one place. Perhaps they even deserve their own forum?

I wish blogs had been around when I first started planning and, indeed, living aboard and cruising the Med.

Pilots and guides are ok but there is no substitute for real and current experience. We always tried to pick the brains of other sailors first hand when at the usual 'Cross Roads' - Portugal, Gib, Balearics, Malta etc but (most) blogs are probably even more helpful.
