Leaving Boat in Portugal

Has anyone out there any advice abotu leaving a boat in Portugal (specifically Algarve). Did you use a local to keep an eye on it? Best places? Tips?

There is a brand new marina near Oporto called Povoa de Varzim. We visited last year, good facilities, apparently 24 h guarded, close to the sights & communication facilities in Oporto. Helpful staff. Probably cheaper than the Algarve.
