Dear Jesters,

After much deliberation I have chosen 12 noon on Monday 7th May 2018 (please note that it is a Monday and a Bank Holiday in the UK) for next year's start of the Jester Challenge to Newport Rhode island. I know it is early but the tides are good and I did not think anyone would want to start on Sunday the 13th (!) and Sunday the 20th May's tides are not good.

I imagine the ever-generous Tamar River Sailing Club will offer the same package deal for moorings and social events but these will all be confirmed closer to the time.

In the meanwhile good luck with your preparations and I very much look forward to seeing you all next year.

Please pass this on so that we have a good chance of a large number of Jesters in this most iconic of nautical challenges.

Very best wishes, Ewen
