For what its worth I had one unexpected equipment failure on a previous Azores trip; all the sail slides broke voer the course of the trip. They were all the some age, about 5 years old. Luckily I had enough spares on board but they tended to go in heavy weather when it was not possible to change them. They were the plastic type, A018. I just had a chat with my sailmaker to get some spares for this trip and he said there are much stronger ones available now which he recommends for a longer offshore passage. I'll be upgrading. C
