Hi
I'm having problems with a jabsco lite flush electric toilet.

Anyone know of a specialist in this line of work in the Hamble / Southampton area who could service it?

If I could find a video of how to service it I would have a go myself

Many thanks

What’s the nature of the problem?

After the double flush a further press of the button fills the bowl. Sometimes, not always, as you watch, the water just drains away and seems to find it's way to the deck behind the toilet. I suspect it's a seal problem somewhere in the toilet.

You can get service kits with the seal and there is a useful video how to service on the Jabsco website. It's not very complicated, especially if access is easy

We've had a similar problem on one of our workboats (same model) - I have found the following company to be very helpful in the past Xylem JabscoShop - Jabsco & Rule Pumps and more - from the experts

Assuming the joker valve is good and all other parts are good, we suspect that it's the seal that surrounds the waste unit - It's item number 11 on the parts list 58500-0024 - LITE FLUSH 24V - With Foot Switch / Electric Toilets / Toilets / Marine Toilets / Marine / Xylem JabscoShop - Jabsco & Rule Pumps and more - from the experts

Of course they don't sell it as an individual part - so we have refitted it with a lot of grease to help seal it better and seems to be working so far.

They are easy enough to service. I have just replaced the drive belt on mine without any problem. Note: Don't buy replacement drive belt from Jabsco as the price is outrageous.

Access most definitely not easy and I wouldn't want to attempt it without some clear instructions. Do you have a link to the video as I can't find it
Thanks

There is a mechanical seal underneath the macerator which sounds like it's failing, have a look at this post Jabsco LiteFlush pump repair. I recently did mine, takes about an hour less if you don't need to replace the bearings though I suspect you might, the seal is simply a push fit so all you'll need is a screwdriver. Toilet can be left in place, ceramic bowl lifts out one you disconnect the flush pipe and waste unit is held in with a few screws so you can take this bit out and do the repair at home. This is the my post for the full overhaul of the waste unit:

Have had my lite flush for about 8 years, bought a spare belt and pulley kit but never had to use it. Noticed it had been getting increasingly noisy when emptying lately so decided to strip it down before it gave up completely. The bit that spins to empty it runs on two small bearings with a mechanical seal to stop the water getting to them. This had started to fail and corroded the bearings. You'll need a small bearing puller to take the bearing off of the shaft which pulls out from the bottom once you take off the plastic macerator(reverse thread) The pulley is held on with a tiny allen screw(T3x50), remove that and then pull the other bearing of from the other end. The mechanical seal(works a bit like a deep se seal) has a ceramic face in a rubber outer that pushes into place and the other piece simply slides over the spindle of the plastic macerator. Assemply is simply the reverse and I replaced both pulleys with the metal ones in the kit, toilet now really quiet again!

I found a uk supplier for the bearings www.georgelodgedirect.co.uk, you'll need one MECH SEAL 0120.18.N.C and two 608 2RS TIMKEN bearings, total cost including shipping £21.28, I bought a spare set in case I need to repair it again in another 8 years!

Can you advise those who may wish to know, where to buy the after market belt from?

If you do a search on these forums you should find a posting I made on replacing the belts and also where to get replacements that are much better than Jabsco belts at a fraction of the price. Another poster actually came up with the place to get the belts! Suffice to say I replaced the thin belt supplied by Jabsco with a wider belt. Fits perfectly and so far it's not failed, unlike the Jabsco belt that failed regularly.
