Under the circumstances, you would have thought that the company spokesman might have thought twice about saying "Brunswick stands behind its products".

and the USA wonders why the world laughs at them and not with them !
The other incident that springs to mind was the guy who sued the builder of his RV after he put the cruise on and walked back into the rear of the vehicle ,apparently he was amazed when it crashed.
Am a great admirer of our colonial cousins but .......FFS.

So if I run over a swimmer in the water 2/3 of the liability lies with Cummins Mercruiser, that's a relief !!

An interesting country the US, intent in screwing itself into the ground, one way or the other.

There seems to be an overriding bias towards individuals' rights, blithly ignoring those same people's obligations/responsibilities.

It would seem that the word 'accident' does not appear in their dictionary.

The US marine industry has fought the idea of installing prop guards on motors, saying that no design has ever proven effective or safe for manoeuvering boats. The US Coast Guard has agreed with them, and consistently refused to order boat and engine builders to install prop guards./QUOTE]

- and yet the case produced this verdict? Mind you, there's an appeal in the offing...

Not really, O.G. - urban legend/myth. According to Snopes, at least.

But, whereas the cruise control story is an urban legend, the injuries suffered by Jacob Brochtrup were not made up for the internet consumption of the gullible.

However, in the USA it sets a precedence that allows a company to be successfully sued for any injury caused by its products.

Get run over by a Ford car and you should be able to sue.

In ten years it'll be the same here.

Damn! Carlton beat me to it.
