How late in the season are Orford Haven buoys left out?

Is there a set date they come in? I’d love to do the Ore/Alde in the next few weeks but realise time is running out…

Trinity House are responsible for the entrance buoys apparently. I called Harwich who told me to call HO in London. I called London and they told me to call Harwich.... I explained the request and the girl on the phone really didn't have a clue what I (or she) was talking about. She suggested I sent an email if it wasn't urgent and I'd receive a reply within five working days. I asked what the answer would be if it was reasonably urgent... she said she didn't know and that there wasn't anybody there who could help. "But you're Trinity House. If you can't help me regarding navigation buoys then who can?" She didn't know the answer to that either.

It made me sad more than angry; we really aren't a maritime nation anymore are we?

Major, to be fair and a little kind the person you talked to they were probably just a message taker not operations manager.
I know it must seem frustrating but perhaps what goes on on the water is not necessarily conveyed to the receptionist.
The Ore buoyage is removed and replaced around the clock changes I think. Probably when they get round to it on a list?
Don't pounce on me, just thinking maybe try another approach. Perhaps Harwich Lifeboat coxswain has the mobile number of the
skipper who does this?

Oh I was pleasant and polite, little point being otherwise. I didn't need an ops manager though, just someone who knew the answer to a straightforward question. Given that (I think) the buoys come out end of next week, I'd have thought there'd be someone in that great and august body (said genuinely and without sarcasm) who'd know.

I like it when people make a plan and help. Not knowing an answer is fine too, but rather than having a "computer says no" attitude I'd have liked her to at least made an effort to not seem laissez-faire.

The reason that I suggested the OP call the HM at the Ferry, John White, is that he is commissioned by Trinity House to lay and remove the buoys. So I expect he already has a date for the removal.

The receptionist should be able to pass the enquiry to the relevant department who have the information if it's not possible to simply pass the caller on to them telephonically; "We don't know" is not a satisfactory response from a statutory body in this instance.
I mailed Trinity House asking the exactly the same question in March.

Not heard anything back yet.
That's disgraceful; I've had similar non-response from Clydeport. High time there was an independent audit and complaint path for statutory bodies in the UK, too often they're a law unto themselves. It's (mostly)not malicious, it's just complacent bureaucracy that is not accountable enough.
